Last week, Pope Francis named Fr. Robert J. Fisher ’83, an auxiliary bishop for the Archdiocese of Detroit.

Archbishop Allen Vigneron called Fisher—and Fr. Gerard W. Battersby, who was also named an auxiliary bishop last week— “two well-loved and respected priests.” Fisher, 57, has been pastor and rector of Shrine of the Little Flower Basilica in Royal Oak, Mich., since 2014. He has a Detroit Mercy degree in Management Science.

“I am humbled by the Holy Father’s call to serve as an auxiliary bishop,” Fr. Fisher said. “I am grateful for Archbishop Vigneron’s guidance, direction and fraternal support.  With the prayers of the community, I will direct all my energy toward sharing Christ in and through the Church.”
