The College of Business Administration’s Center for Social Entrepreneurship was chosen by the Michigan Women’s Foundation to host a statewide EmpowerHer Symposium in June.

The day-long event, sponsored by the Ford Motor Company Fund, brought together some 150 female social entrepreneurs from around the state to develop business skills and begin the process of competing for start-up funding to launch their new ventures.

Detroit Mercy Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Pam Zarkowski provided welcoming remarks and Derrin Leppek, co-director of the Center, gave a presentation on quantifying and measuring progress in a start-up. Sue Snyder, first lady of Michigan gave the keynote address. Several CBA students helped the event come off without a hitch.
