University of Detroit Mercy President Antoine M. Garibaldi attended the 2018 Mackinac Policy Conference last week to learn more about what’s in store for the state, business industry and higher education community.

And while he was there, Dr. Garibaldi made sure everyone knew what great things are happening at Detroit Mercy. During his time at the conference, the president was interviewed by several news and media organizations, reporting on many of the initiatives and programs at the University. We’ve collected them here.

On Wednesday, May 30, Dr. Garibaldi was a guest on “Small Talk with Mark S. Lee.” During his interview, he discussed the various new initiatives at Detroit Mercy, such as summer camps available for young students on the McNichols Campus, Detroit Mercy’s Upward Bound program, funded by the federal government, and the Detroit ReBUILD Program, which offers students from underrepresented areas in the city the opportunity to study STEM programs. This interview aired Sunday, June 3, on WXYT 1270, and streamed via radio.com (search 1270/Detroit).  You can also download the Radio.com app. Additional podcasts are available on thehubdetroit.com.

Dr. Garibaldi also appeared on Craig Fahle’s live-streaming program later on Wednesday to discuss education in Detroit. During this interview, Dr. Garibaldi described ways that the University works with Detroit organizations and the community to help improve the academic achievement of students.

He was also interviewed on WWJ-950 AM regarding the Tuition Reset, among other topics.

Stephen Henderson and Dr. Garibaldi (along with the Kresge Foundation’s Rip Rapson) chatted about the rejuvenation of the neighborhoods near Livernois and McNichols surrounding the McNichols Campus. (The interview starts at 11:30 into the video.)

910 AM Superstation’s Steve Neavling talked with Dr. Garibaldi about the history of improvements in the Livernois and McNichols area.
