Theatre Professor Arthur J. Beer retired from teaching this past year and next month, he is playing the title role in the Detroit Mercy Theatre Company’s (DMTC) production of “Ebenezer.” It will be his last performance of the show and his long, storied career.

In honor of his career, the Department of Performing Arts and DMTC will host a special celebration on Sunday, Dec. 8, at The Marlene Boll Theatre from 5:30-8 p.m. following a performance of the show, which is a sequel to the Dickens favorite “A Christmas Carol.” This event will feature a strolling reception and roast of Beer.

As part of the event, DMTC has invited students, friends and colleagues to express their gratitude to Beer by sending letters and videos. Offer a memory of your time with him or give him a piece of your mind. Interested individuals may submit videos and letters to theatre@udmercy.edu.  Some recordings and letters may be read during the roast at the discretion of the Department of Performing Arts.

The deadline to RSVP for this special event is Dec. 1. Please visit http://events.r20.constantcontact.com/register/event?oeidk=a07egpvc4itb30f568a&llr=bn4w5rcab for more.

If you can’t make the event, you can still see Beer perform the role of Ebenezer Scrooge in “Ebenezer” on Dec. 5-8. Tickets are available at www.udmercy.edu/life/theatre/ebenezer.php.
