Play video games, heal kids at Detroit Mercy x Extra Life, April 15

Detroit Mercy Anime Club presents Detroit Mercy x Extra Life, a 12-hour charity stream live on Twitch where you can play video games to raise money for Beaumont Children’s in Royal Oak. This event will be on Monday, April 15 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. in the Student Fitness Center.

Here’s how it works:

Grab your Detroit Mercy friends or represent your Greek chapter/student organization, choose a one-hour time slot to play Nintendo Switch games (Smash, Mario Party, Mario Kart, Arms, Overcooked and more) on the Main Stage and have gameplay (and your group) broadcasted live on Twitch. Gather your largest group of gamers, sport your best spirit wear, rally behind your org and make some noise on the stream!

After, be sure to stop by our Offline Arena and de-stress with some casual games available (more Smash, Mario Kart, FIFA, board games, card games, etc.).

Local Detroit food will be available, while supplies last, throughout the 12-hour stream for $1 donation per item, including:

  • Morning – Great Lakes Coffee Roasting Company coffee and Dutch Girl Donuts ($1 a coffee, $1 a doughnut)
  • Early Afternoon – Bucharest Grill chicken shawarma ($1 a half-sandwich)
  • Late Afternoon – Detroit Bubble Tea ($1 a bubble tea)
  • Evening – Pop+Offworld pizza and pop ($1 a slice, $1 a can of pop)

All food purchased during the stream will go toward our final donation to Beaumont Children’s. (Any additional donations are also always accepted and appreciated). We accept cash, check or Venmo (@detmercyanime). BONUS: If you donate $5, you will receive a punch card and get six food items of your choice!

If you cannot make it to the event, watch the stream on our Extra Life page or at Twitch.tv/detroitmercy. Anyone can watch: reach out to friends, social-media-literate family or student org alumni and get them to tune in.

If your student org is ready to sign up and play, or if have any questions, join our Discord at discord.gg/u3cNHk or email us at udmanime@gmail.com.

Detroit Mercy x Extra Life is part of the Dead Week Comes Alive series on campus. This event is sponsored by the Detroit Mercy Anime Club, coordinated by MarCom Communications Specialist Timmy Nelson and supported by a Mission Micro Grant.
