For the 18<\/span>th<\/sup><\/span> consecutive year, Detroit Mercy is listed in the top tier of Midwest Best Regional Universities in the 2019 edition of the U.S. News & World Report’s<\/i> “Best Colleges.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Detroit Mercy ranked No. 25 for Midwest Best Regional Universities and is one of just two universities in Michigan to be listed in the top 25.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>U.S. News & World Report<\/i> released the rankings today.<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to the University\u2019s No. 25 ranking, Detroit Mercy earned a\u00a0 No. 17 rank for Best Colleges for Veterans in the Midwest Region and was ranked No. 35 nationally for Best Value Schools. Detroit Mercy also had a strong retention rate. In 2017, first-to second-year retention was 86.8 percent; and over the past four years, the retention rate has averaged 84 percent.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This year, Detroit Mercy has its fourth consecutive freshman class increase, with 587 students compared with 550 in 2017. It is also the largest freshman class since 2009 and the University\u2019s second largest class in 24 years.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cOur fourth straight increase in freshman enrollment, high retention rates and reputational and best value rankings are not only attracting more students to the University, but we are also making the cost of a private and Catholic college education more affordable,\u201d said President Antoine M. Garibaldi, Ph.D. \u201cDetroit Mercy announced in late November 2017 that it re-set its tuition for this academic year\u2019s first-year and continuing undergraduate students from $41,000 to $28,000. The resetting of our tuition to 2008 rates has already generated more interest from prospective students as the number of inquiries and campus visits have increased over the past several months.”\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
