A pregame reception and halftime event will honor all former student-athletes from the College of Business Administration.<\/li>\n<li>On March 21, the College\u2019s Centennial events culminate in the keynote presentation of Alumni Week, \u201cA Century of Commerce: Business Trends Past and Present.\u201d The discussion will be given by a distinguished panel of alumni consisting of Phyllis Peters Look \u201951, retired director of professional standards at Deloitte; Michael Porter \u201982, retired Vice President of Corporate Communications at DTE Energy; and Maria Garcia \u201901, CRM Manager at Federal Mogul. CBA Alumni Board President Christina Pauken \u201912, will serve as moderator. The discussion begins at 1 p.m. in the Student Center Ballroom.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These events follow three events late last year that started with the CBA\u2019s sponsoring of Celebrate Spirit!, the annual Mass and celebration that officially begins the new school year each September. The guest speaker was Crystal Windham\u201902, director of interior design at General Motors. Her inspirational talk urged students to go where their dreams take them, even if others say you can\u2019t. During that event, busts of St. Ignatius of Loyola and Catherine McAuley, the latter created by Sr. Marie Henderson, RSM, were blessed by Fr. Gerald Cavanagh, S.J., as symbols of the College\u2019s Jesuit and Mercy identity. The busts were donated to the College by the Mularoni and Tracy families, and are now on permanent display in the Commerce &amp; Finance Building. Photos from the event can be seen <a href=\"http:\/\/www.udmercy.edu\/gallery\/view_album.php?set_albumName=Celebrate-Spirit-2016\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The following month, Mark Ellis \u201990, president and chief operations officer for sales and marketing at Time, Inc., was the keynote speaker for the College\u2019s Centennial Gala at the Westin Book Cadillac.\u00a0 Several hundred guests attended a reception and dinner, and stayed to enjoy dancing and music.\u00a0 Photos can be seen <a href=\"http:\/\/www.udmercy.edu\/gallery\/view_album.php?set_albumName=album145\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Business Leadership Awards were presented to four notable alumni Oct. 30, as part of the Gala celebration. Lifetime Achievement Awards were presented to Nancy E. Hazely \u201978, president of Tax Trilogy; and Edward T. Sprock \u201978, retired director of Worldwide Transportation at Chrysler Corp., who now serves as the College\u2019s executive-in-residence. Rising Star Awards were presented to Mirela Mesic \u201913, global program manager at American Axle &amp; Manufacturing; and Emily Doerr \u201912, founder of Hostel Detroit and currently program manager in Community and Economic Development for the city of Flint.
