University of Detroit Mercy will celebrate Homecoming 2019 on Sept. 20-21. Join the Fall Festival-themed festivities as you reconnect with the University through two exciting days filled with food, fun and celebrations.<\/p>\n

Attendees will enjoy several exciting activities, including zip lining, casino games, carnival games benefiting Detroit Mercy student groups and a beer and wine tent.<\/p>\n

Alpha Sigma Nu Civil Rights Lecture \u2013 6 p.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Alpha Sigma Nu, the honor society of Jesuit colleges and universities, hosts a civil rights lecture featuring Detroit native and Detroit Mercy alumnus Kevin Boyle \u201982. The award-winning author of \u201cArc of Justice: A Saga of Race, Civil Rights and Murder in the Jazz Age,\u201d will discuss civil rights events in Detroit.<\/p>\n

School of Dentistry\u2019s Titan 10 Unite Continuing Education Course \u2013 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The School of Dentistry presents a continuing education course featuring a multidisciplinary approach to head and neck cancers. Tour du Titan Bike Ride \u2014\u00a09 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Embark on a bicycle tour of Detroit and the neighborhoods surrounding Detroit Mercy\u2019s School of Law and McNichols Campus. Avid cyclists can meet at the School of Law at 9 a.m. and ride to the McNichols Campus. From there, casual riders can join the tour and depart at 11 a.m. for a ride through neighborhoods surrounding the McNichols Campus. Searching for Africa\u2019s Lost Dinosaurs<\/strong><\/p>\n

Professor Nizar Ibrahim, Detroit Mercy\u2019s world-renowned paleontologist, might be best known for unlocking the mystery of the Spinosaurus, the predatory, sail-backed dinosaur so large it even surpassed the better-known Tyrannosaurus Rex in body length. But to him, the discovery is just one piece in a much larger puzzle. Come learn more and hear his story in this thrilling workshop.<\/p>\n

Estate Planning and Pitfalls 101<\/strong><\/p>\n

Robert Perry from Butzel Long law firm will share the basics of estate planning, taxes and charitable giving. Perry boasts over 30 years of experience in several facets of estate and business succession planning, life insurance trusts, charitable remainder trusts, personal estate planning, estate taxation and individual retirement accounts. Detroit Mercy Fall Festival \u2014\u00a011 a.m. to 4 p.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Join us on the McNichols Campus for a day filled with fun activities, food and celebrations. There is something for the whole family to enjoy. Activities include zip lining, casino tables, carnival games benefiting Detroit Mercy student groups, a scavenger hunt, bonfire and beer and wine tent (for those 21 years or older). Cost of admission to the festival is a non-perishable food item or personal hygiene product for the University\u2019s food pantry.<\/p>\n

Homecoming Car Show \u2014\u00a011 a.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Check out an impressive display of vehicles, from vintage and muscle cars to an automobile from the Detroit Grand Prix. New this year is a People\u2019s Choice award, which will be voted on by Homecoming guests.<\/p>\n

Join prospective students and their families attending Visit Day for a tour of Detroit Mercy\u2019s McNichols Campus to see its latest updates and developments.<\/p>\n

Flag Football \u2013\u00a011:30 a.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Pigskins will fly during the Homecoming flag football tournament. Put together a team to compete against alumni and current students. To register, call the Student Fitness Center at 313-993-1781. Cost is $75 per team, consisting of 7-10 players.<\/p>\n
