Gary Peters<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a fun fact for the Jesuit educated:\u00a0Ten percent of the 115th\u00a0U.S. Congress that was sworn in last week,\u00a0are graduates of Jesuit colleges and universities.<\/p>\n<p>Of the 56 Jesuit institution alumni, two are from University of Detroit Mercy.<\/p>\n<p>Democratic U.S. Sen. Vern Buchanan\u00a0&#8217;86, a Republican, is one of 44 Jesuit alumni who serve in the House of Representatives.<\/p>\n<p>Peters is the newcomer, elected in 2014; Buchanan was first elected in 2006.<\/p>\n<p>Both earned their MBAs in the College of Business Administration.<\/p>\n<p>American Jesuit Colleges and Universities President Rev. Michael J. Sheeran, S.J., said, \u201cA hallmark of Jesuit education is service to others, and we are proud to see that commitment represented by the alumni of Jesuit institutions who serve in the House and Senate.
