SUMMARY:Celebration of Scholarly Achievement
DESCRIPTION:Detroit Mercy will recognize the academic work of students\, st
 aff and faculty at the 16th annual Celebration of Scholarly Achievement (C
 SA) on Thursday\, April 18 on the McNichols Campus.\n\nThis University-w
 ide event will feature traditional research posters\, artistic displays\, 
 performances\, lightning talks\, a keynote address by an internationally k
 nown speaker and more.\n\nThe event begins noon in the Student Union Ballr
 oom with presentations of more than 150 research and creative exhibits inc
 luding research posters\, lightning talks\, costume displays\, poetry read
 ings\, product demonstrations and more. Box lunches will be available.\n\n
 A reception is planned for 4 p.m. in the Ballroom followed by a 5 p.m. pre
 sentation by Terrell Strayhorn titled “Fostering Students’ Sense of Be
 longing and Success through Undergraduate Research Engagement.”\n\nDrawi
 ng on a growing body of empirical evidence and theoretical insights\, Stra
 yhorn will highlight how active involvement in research projects\, service
  and creative activities are integral to students achieving their academic
  goals\, building social skills and developing personal identities that fo
 ster life-long success.\n\nStrayhorn is a leading authority in the fields 
 of education\, psychology and leadership. He has written more than 12 book
 s and hundreds of academic publications. He is a professor of education an
 d psychology and vice provost at Virginia Union University.\n\nHis talk is
  designed to inspire educators and administrators to cultivate an environm
 ent where research engagement is a key driver of student belonging\, engag
 ement\, and success.\n\nAll events are free and open to everyone. Registra
 tion is required for the keynote speaker.\n\nCSA events are made possibly
  through the support of Alliance Catholic Credit Union\, the Delta Dental
