 ing war -- on Monday\, March 10 at 4 p.m. All are welcome to attend. Pleas

 r\, Eamon Rafter\, an activist and educator for peace and justice\, will d
 iscuss the movement of Lex Innocentium 21st Century. He'll explain how thi
 s contemporary group was formed to revive a law that was promulgated by a 
 gathering of bishops in Ireland during the Synod of Birr in 697 A.D. to pr
 otect innocents (clergy\, women and youth) during times of war\, as well a
 s support the Irish position of neutrality at the beginning of the 20th ce
 ntury. Rafter will explain how this movement was built on Ireland's values
  and moral standards of the past to address current atrocities\, using art
  and creativity to spread the message.\n\nRafter works with World Beyond W
 ar\, Swords to Ploughshares and Lex Innocentium 21st Century\, focusing on
  arms trade\, militarism\, war abolition and nonviolent alternatives. He h
 as also worked extensively on reconciliation projects in Ireland with scho
 ols\, universities and communities affected by conflict. Rafter is an acti
 ve participant and presenter in the International Institute of Peace Educa
 tion (IIPE)\, most recently in Mexico and Nepal.\n\nThis event is sponsore
