DESCRIPTION:Join us Wednesday\, Nov. 13 at 5:30 p.m. for an online discussi
 on about Ujamaa\, an ideology of self-reliance\, response to colonialism a
 nd attitude of mind that formed the basis of African socialism under J.K. 
 Nyerere\, Tanzania's first president after the country's independence.\n\n
 Joseph Albert\, coordinator for international programs and instructor at L
 oyola High School\, Dar es Salaam\, Tanzania\, will discuss the basis for 
 this movement and how Ujamaa functions in Tanzanian society today\, connec
 ting it to Ignatian philosophy and practices.\n\nThis livestreamed talk\, 
 hosted by Detroit Mercy's African American Studies Program\, sponsored by 
 College of Humanities\, Arts &amp\; Social Sciences (CHASS) and Carney Lat
 in American Solidarity Archive (CLASA)\, is free and open to the universit
