DESCRIPTION:Visit Cuba with Detroit Mercy during spring break 2024!\n\nInfo
 rmation sessions to learn more about the trip are set for Oct. 11 at 6:30 
 p.m. (Zoom registration) and Tuesday\, Oct. 17 from 1-2 p.m. in the Briggs
  Building\, Room 105.\n\nDuring 2024 spring break\, scheduled for March 3-
 9\, join the University for a visit to Havana and Cienfuegos\, Cuba\, focu
 sing on education\, people-to-people engagement and visits to UNESCO World
  Heritage sites. This program\, open to students\, faculty and alumni\, ha
 s a robust itinerary featuring the arts\, cultural and historic preservati
 on\, community development and the people of Cuba — the best and most es
 sential reason for the visit.\n\nCelebrate the contributions of Afro Cuban
  communities\, like El Roque Society in Cienfuegos\, and learn about susta
 ined cultural and religious traditions\, connecting these to contemporary 
 issues rooted in Cuba’s colonial past. Visit landmarks like the Bay of P
 igs to gain appreciation for Cuba’s many natural assets\, while valuing 
 the historical context and multiple perspectives this program offers. Cuba
 ’s Office of the Historian introduces us to the intricate web of social\
 , organizational and educational ecosystems that sustain Cubans through di
 fficult times and help the nation maintain a low infant mortality rate and
  one of the highest literacy rates in the world.\n\nA one-credit Cuban Cul
 ture and History course is required of all non-student participants\, as p
 er the educational license that allows us the opportunity to travel to Cub
