DESCRIPTION:Detroit Mercy’s Department of English welcomes poet Joanna Fu
 hrman for a special reading\, hosted by UDM’s Poet-in-Residence Stacy G
 nall. All are invited to attend this free event\, which takes place virtua
 lly on Wednesday\, Oct. 1\, from 6:30-7:45 p.m.\n\nFuhrman is the author o
 f seven poetry collections\, most recently including Data Mind (Curbston
 e/Northwestern University Press\, 2024) and To a New Era (Hanging Loose P
 ress\, 2021). Her poems have appeared in The Believer\, The Baffler\, Fenc
 e\, The Georgia Review and more\, as well as on the Poetry Foundation and
  Academy of American Poets websites. Her work has also been featured in Be
 st American Poetry\, The Pushcart Prize anthology and The Slowdown podcast
 . A graduate of the University of Washington’s MFA program\, Fuhrman li
 ves in New Jersey where she serves as an assistant teaching professor of C
