SUMMARY:NAMI Walk
DESCRIPTION:The entire Detroit Mercy community is invited to walk together 
 to support mental health awareness at the upcoming NAMI (National Alliance
  on Mental Illness) Walk on Saturday\, Sept. 20 on the McNichols Campus. T
 he walk begins at 10 a.m. with registration starting at 9 a.m.\n\nUnique U
 DM swag will be provided for the first 150 Detroit Mercy students\, facult
 y\, administrators\, and staff that register and participate in the walk.\
 n\nThe NAMI Walk is more than just a walk—it's a powerful opportunity to
 :\n\n 	Show support for individuals and families impacted by mental illnes
 s.\n 	Raise awareness about the importance of mental health on campus and 
 in our community.\n 	Take action to reduce stigma and advocate for resourc
 es that make a difference.\n\nSome 2\,000 supporters of the National Allia
 nce on Mental Illness are expected to participate in a 5K walk on UDM’s 
 campus to raise funds and awareness of the organization\, which is dedicat
 ed to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by ment
 al illness.\n\nTitans\, student organizations\, residence hall floors\, co
 me together to champion mental health for all by creating or joining a tea
 m\, raising money and walking together. Wear your Titan gear and comfortab
 le shoes. If you cannot join the walk\, support the Detroit Mercy Titans t
 eam or a student group. Participants receive special Detroit Mercy swag.\
 n\nAccording to NAMI\, one in five adults in the United States experience 
 mental illness each year and nearly 1.5 million adults in Michigan has a m
 ental health condition.\n\n“This is very exciting for the University bec
 ause it is the second time the walk has been held at Detroit Mercy\,” sa
 id Dean of Students Monica Williams. “We are participating because too o
 ften mental health issues are not spoken about\, and these walks are a way
  to open up discussions. It is the mission of this University to work with
 in the community to help make it stronger for everybody.”\n\nSupporters 
 who want to participate but can’t attend the event can make a difference
