DESCRIPTION:The Women’s and Gender Studies Program\, Office of Diversity\
 , Equity and Inclusion\, University Ministry and UDM Pride Club will gathe
 r for a short service in observation of Transgender Day of Remembrance on
  Monday\, Nov. 20 at 4:30 p.m.\n\nThe service will take place by the Peac
 e Pole in Sacred Heart Square\, just outside of the McNichols Campus Libra
 ry. All are welcome to attend.\n\nTransgender Day of Remembrance began in 
 1999 to honor Rita Hester\, a transgender woman killed in 1998. Since then
 \, it has been observed annually to raise awareness of transphobia and vio
 lence faced by the transgender community.\n\nStop by the McNichols Campus 
 Library to learn more about the history and experiences of transgender peo
 ple through its Transgender Day of Remembrance book display and other reso
 urces.
