DESCRIPTION:Detroit Mercy's English Department kicks of this year's Triptyc
 h series with poet Brandon Som\, who will read his work on Thursday\, Jan.
  16 at 6:30 p.m. via Zoom.\n\nSom is a Chicano and Chinese American poet. 
 His most recent poetry collection Tripas (Georgia Review and University of
  Georgia Press) was awarded the 2024 Pulitzer Prize in Poetry and was a fi
 nalist for the National Book Award. He is also the author of The Tribute H
 orse (Nightboat Books)\, which won the 2015 Kate Tufts Discovery Award. So
 m lives in San Diego\, on the traditional and unceded territory of the Kum
 eyaay Nation\, and teaches literature and creative writing at University o
 f California San Diego.\n\nNow in its third year\, Triptych is a virtual r
 eading series featuring award-winning poets in conversation with Detroit M
 ercy’s poet-in-residence\, Stacy Gnall. Triptych events are held via Zoo
 m on Thursdays from 6:30-8 p.m.\n\nTriptych readings are free and open to
