DESCRIPTION:The Department of Political Science will host a roundtable disc
 ussion on the status of women in Afghanistan\, Iran and the United States 
 from 12:45-2 p.m. Tuesday\, March 14. The virtual discussion is titled\, 
 "Under Pressure: Women in Afghanistan\, Iran and the United States."\n\nTh
 ree speakers will discuss the lives of women in their home countries in li
 ght of recent political developments. Khatera Alizada is a research affili
 ate at Worcester Polytechnic Institute and an expert on women in Afghanist
 an\; Khadijeh Noloufar Salimi is adjunct faculty at Old Dominion Universit
 y and Christopher Newport University and an expert on women’s suffrage i
 n Iran\; Jocelyn M. Boryczka\, who is dean of Detroit Mercy’s College of
  Liberal Arts &amp\; Education\, is the editor and co-editor of New Polit
 ical Science: A Journal of Politics &amp\; Culture.\n\nThe Zoom event is b
 eing held in honor of International Women’s Month and is cosponsored by 
 the Department of Political Science\, the Women’s and Gender Studies Pro
