We hope that as of May 1 masks will be optional in most campus spaces. Corktown, Riverfront and Aquinas campuses may have alternative dates depending on final examination schedules.<\/li>\n<li>Employees and students have the option to wear surgical masks, KN95 equivalent masks or cloth masks.<\/li>\n<li>Faculty are permitted to wear clear face shields during instruction.<\/li>\n<li>KN95 masks are available for individuals who are immunocompromised or otherwise vulnerable.<\/li>\n<li>Guidance for University-sponsored events can be found at\u00a0<a title=\"Original URL: https:\/\/www.udmercy.edu\/coronavirus\/events.php. Some university-sponsored events may have a mask optional protocol.<\/li>\n<li>Updated Athletics Policy: Masks are optional but highly recommended for all indoor sporting events or when visiting Calihan Hall. There will also be limited concessions for all on-campus events.<\/li>\n<li>Masks are optional in the following locations: Residence Halls and the McNichols Campus Fitness Center.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We ask everyone to be aware that our University community has individuals who are vulnerable to severe illness or are caring for vulnerable individuals. Their safety is a serious concern and taking care of those who are susceptible is a true reflection of who we are as a Mercy and Jesuit University.<\/p>\n<p><b>We anticipate the following steps beginning on May 1:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Individuals may continue to wear a mask, based on preference or risk.<\/li>\n<li>The University will return to mask requirements if necessary based on local and campus infection rates.<\/li>\n<li>Individual faculty may require masks in classes and, if so, this information will be included on course syllabi.<\/li>\n<li>The School of Dentistry and College of Health Professions and McAuley School of Nursing and departments and units that interact with patients or clients may require masks.<\/li>\n<li>Employees may require masks in their office areas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Please take advantage of safe and effective strategies to prevent the spread of illness in our University Community:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Get vaccinated and boosted and stay up to date on your COVID-19 and other vaccinations.\u00a0<a title=\"Original URL: https:\/\/vaccinefinder.org\/.
