A report on lunar habitat architecture produced by University of Detroit Mercy College of Engineering & Science graduates recently earned <\/span>top <\/span>recognition at the International Council on Systems Engineering\u2019s (INCOSE) 32nd annual international symposium.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The report, <\/span><\/span>Applying Model-Based Systems Engineering Methods to a Novel Shard Systems Simulation Methodology<\/span><\/span>, received INCOSE\u2019s best paper award in its modeling, simulation and analysis category.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Christopher Caron \u201921, <\/span>Christopher Craft <\/span>\u201921<\/span>, Ashishkumar Prajapati <\/span>\u201921<\/span>, Stephen Pien <\/span>\u201921<\/span> and Jeremy Ross <\/span>\u201921\u00a0<\/span>produced the paper <\/span>based on their Master of Product Development capstone project, where they applied simulation and visualization techniques to defining a lunar habitat architecture. The graduates were part of a Ford Motor Company cohort that attended the College of Engineering & Science for its professional engineering programs.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

More than 100 papers were submitted to INCOSE for work on architecture and model execution and trade studies.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

<\/span>\u201cWinning the INCOSE best paper award demonstrates that students who graduate from Detroit Mercy\u2019s Master in Program Development or Systems Engineering programs can not only compete on a global stage, but win,\u201d said Paul Spadafora, director of professional engineering programs for the College of Engineering & Science. <\/span>\u201c<\/span>Proving that they have mastered a systemic approach to solving some of the world\u2019s most complex problems provides a way of thinking that has no limits in solving complex, multidisciplinary issues.\u201d<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
