Detroit Mercy\u2019s College of Liberal Arts & Education will announce a new scholarship Dec. 8 that provides significant financial support for graduate students enrolled in the Clinical Psychology Master\u2019s Program beginning in the fall of 2023.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Detroit Mercy Ignite Scholarship for Clinical Psychology master\u2019s degree students will help address the growing needs for mental health clinicians.\u00a0<\/span>Details on this scholarship will be announced at the Detroit Mercy Clinical Psychology Virtual Open House on Thursday, Dec<\/b><\/span><\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/span>8<\/span><\/b><\/span>, from noon to 1 p.m. EST.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/span>To register for this session, visit<\/span><\/b><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/span>udmercy.edu\/ClinicalPsychology<\/b><\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Ignite Scholarship will provide qualified students with significant financial assistance for the three-year program as they work to become master\u2019s-level psychological practitioners or to pursue additional graduate study.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In addition, this\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>new scholarship comes at a pivotal time in U.S. society. According to the\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>2021 American Psychological Association\u2019s (APA) COVID-19 Practitioner Survey<\/span><\/a>,<\/span><\/u><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>demand for anxiety, depression and trauma-related treatment continues\u00a0<\/span>to\u00a0<\/span>rise\u00a0<\/span>due to the\u00a0<\/span><\/span>prolonged effects\u00a0<\/span>of\u00a0<\/span>the pandemic.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe master\u2019s program in Clinical Psychology in the College of Liberal Arts & Education (CLAE) is proud to provide the Ignite Scholarship to financially support graduate students and help meet this pressing need in today\u2019s society,\u201d said CLAE Dean Jocelyn Boryczka<\/a>. \u201cProviding this important investment in our graduate students means we have the chance to equip more professions with the academic training and hands-on skills they need to help people,\u201d she added.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cUniversity of Detroit Mercy\u2019s Master of Arts program for Clinical Psychology combines academic rigor, small cohorts, individualized career planning and advising for a unique experience,\u201d said Kristen Abraham, associate professor and program director.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
