During the 2023 winter semester, Triptych will host three accomplished poets and writers for a reading of their work followed by audience questions.<\/p>\n<p>Triptych events will take place virtually on the third Thursday of January, February and March at 6:30 p.m. via Zoom. They are free and open to the public. <a href=\"https:\/\/linktr.ee\/detroitmercyenglish\"><strong>Register for each reading.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Detroit Mercy English will host poet and writer Marcelo Hernandez Castillo as the first speaker on <strong>Thursday, Jan. 19 at 6:30 p.m.<\/strong> Castillo will give a reading of his work followed by questions from those in attendance.<\/p>\n<h6>GUEST READERS<\/h6>\n<p><em><strong>January 19, 2023 \u2014 Marcelo Hernandez Castillo<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Castillo is the author of\u00a0<em>Children of the Land: a Memoir;\u00a0Cenzontle<\/em>, which was the winner of the A. Poulin, Jr. prize, and <em>Dulce<\/em>,\u00a0winner of the Drinking Gourd Prize. He is a founding member of the Undocupoets, which eliminated citizenship requirements from all major poetry book prizes in the U.S. He currently teaches in the creative writing program at St. Mary\u2019s University, and the Ashland Low-Res MFA Program, as well as in poetry workshops for incarcerated youth in Northern California.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>February 16, 2023 \u2014 Paisley Rekdal<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Rekdal is the author of a book of essays, <em>The Night My Mother Met Bruce Lee<\/em>;\u00a0the hybrid photo-text memoir, <em>Intimate<\/em>; and six books of poetry, including <em>Animal Eye<\/em>, winner of the UNT Rilke Prize; <em>Imaginary Vessels<\/em>, finalist for the 2018 Kingsley Tufts Prize, and <em>Nightingale<\/em>, which won the 2020 Washington State Book Award for Poetry. She is a distinguished professor at the University of Utah, where she is also the creator and editor of West: A Translation, as well as the community web projects Mapping Literary Utah and Mapping Salt Lake City.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>March 16, 2023 \u2014 Adam Giannelli<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Giannelli is the author of <em>Tremulous Hinge<\/em>, winner of the Iowa Poetry Prize. He is also the translator of a selection of prose poems by Marosa di Giorgio, Diadem, which was shortlisted for the PEN Award for Poetry in Translation, and the editor of <em>High Lonesome<\/em>, a collection of critical essays on Charles Wright. He has taught at Oberlin, Hamilton, and Colby Colleges.
