Catholics mark this day by fasting and abstaining from meat. They mark their forehead with ashes as a sign of a desire to repent and to turn their hearts towards God.<\/p>\n<p>Ash Wednesday begins the season of Lent, a season of repentance and renewal leading up to Easter.<\/p>\n<h5>Ash Wednesday Mass schedule:<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>McNichols Campus<\/strong> \u2014 Mass at noon in Shiple Hall lobby for all residential students. Ashes will also be distributed from 1-2 p.m. in the lobby of Shiple Hall. Reconciliation Service and Confessions are set for Thursday, Feb. 23 from 12:45-2 p.m. in St. Ignatius Chapel following the noon Mass.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Riverfront Campus<\/strong> \u2014 Mass set for noon and 7 p.m. (Saints Peter and Paul Church).
