Published by Arcadia Publishing, “Ss. Peter and Paul Jesuit, Detroit’s Oldest Church,” tells of the church’s construction in 1844. It was entrusted to the Jesuits in 1877 and has a long commitment to service to those in need. It also is the site of many Detroit Mercy traditions such as the annual Detroit Mercy Law Red Mass.<\/p>\n
A former Detroit Free Press<\/em> reporter, Montemurri has also written histories of Gesu Catholic Church and Michigan’s Mercy High School.<\/p>\n The book is part of the Images of America series of local historical books and can be purchased at ssppjesuit.org\/175years<\/a>.
