Each year, the Detroit Mercy English Department<\/a> honors Dudley Randall<\/a>, the late poet, publisher and University librarian and poet-in-residence, by sponsoring a poetry competition in his name.<\/p>\n

Now in its 55th year, the prize continues Dudley Randall\u2019s legacy of amplifying creative voices within the Detroit Mercy community.<\/p>\n

Detroit Mercy undergraduate students are eligible to submit one poem of 55 or fewer lines. All topics and poetic forms are welcome. The winner of the first prize must be available to read the poem at the annual Honors Convocation on March 23.<\/p>\n

The deadline for submissions is Friday, Feb. 7.<\/strong> First prize is $150 with second prize of $75 and third prize of $50. The judges of this year’s contest are Reem Abou-Samra<\/a>, Maisy Card<\/a> and Robert Laidler<\/a>.<\/p>\n
