The Detroit Mercy English Department<\/a> and College of Humanities, Arts & Social Sciences<\/a> (CHASS) will host author and Fairfield University Professor of English Sonya Huber<\/a> for “Writing the Midwest,” a conversation and reading\u00a0on Tuesday, April 8<\/strong> from 6-7:30 p.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This free event is open to all and will take place in the Commerce & Finance Building, Room 138.<\/p>\n

Huber’s books include the forthcoming anthology, Nothing Compares To You: What Sinead Means to Us;<\/em>\u00a0the essay collection, Love and Industry: A Midwestern Workbook,<\/em> finalist for the 2024 PEN\/Diamondstein-Spielvogel Award for the Art of the Essay; and the writing guide, Voice First: A Writer\u2019s Manifesto<\/em>. She is also the author of the award-winning essay collection on chronic pain, Pain Woman Takes Your Keys and Other Essays from a Nervous System<\/em>, as well as Supremely Tiny Acts: A Memoir in a Day <\/em>and The Backwards Research Guide for Writers<\/em>.
