Detroit Mercy\u2019s doctoral program in Clinical Psychology recently achieved a 10-year accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation (CoA) of the American Psychological Association.<\/p>\n
The Clinical Psychology program is offered through the College of Liberal Arts & Education. According to the Commission, \u201cThe CoA voted to reaffirm accreditation of Detroit Mercy\u2019s program, with its next site visit scheduled to be held in 2028. This decision is based on the CoA\u2019s professional judgment that the program demonstrated that it adheres to the Standards of Accreditation in Health Service Psychology (SoA).\u201d<\/p>\n
The program follows the scientist-practitioner model of clinical training, which includes the integration of science and practice. Consistent with the model suggested at the National Conference on Scientist-Practitioner Education and Training (January 1990), the program emphasizes the development of interlocking skills in scientific methodology and professional practice.<\/p>\n
Professor Barry Dauphin, PhD, ABPP and the Clinical Psychology director of the doctoral program, coordinated the effort to achieve accreditation.<\/p>\n
