University of Detroit Mercy is presenting a live production of iconic Motown music at the annual Michigan Lottery Arts, Beats & Eats, set for Labor Day weekend, Aug. 29-Sept. 1.<\/p>\n
The Hitsville NEXT Revue<\/em>, with renditions of hits by Marvin Gaye, The Temptations, Smokey Robinson, Diana Ross, The Four Tops and more, will be the kickoff performance at the annual festival in Royal Oak for each of the next two years, in part thanks to the University.<\/p>\n \u201cUDM is very proud to partner with Arts, Beats & Eats as a sponsor for the next two years,\u201d Detroit Mercy\u2019s Associate Vice President of Marketing & Communications Gary Erwin said.<\/p>\n \u201cThis yearly experience has achieved both state-wide and national recognition and we are thrilled to come together with our community to celebrate the arts.\u201d<\/p>\n The \u201cMagic of Motown\u201d showcases a spotlight on Detroit\u2019s rising stars from the Motown Museum\u2019s Hitsville NEXT programs, taking the audience on a trip down memory lane.<\/p>\n The festival blends world-class music, visual arts, culinary experiences and more, thanks to partnerships within the metro Detroit community and beyond.<\/p>\n In 2024, the four-day event attracted more than 300,000 people and since 1998, the festival has raised more than $7.7 million for community and charitable causes and organizations.<\/p>\n
