{"id":23956,"date":"2026-01-20T12:53:25","date_gmt":"2026-01-20T17:53:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.udmercy.edu\/campusconnection\/?p=23956"},"modified":"2026-01-20T23:15:49","modified_gmt":"2026-01-21T04:15:49","slug":"upcoming-application-deadline-for-appalachia-service-immersion-trip-jan-21","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.udmercy.edu\/campusconnection\/2026\/01\/20\/upcoming-application-deadline-for-appalachia-service-immersion-trip-jan-21\/","title":{"rendered":"Upcoming application deadline for Appalachia service immersion trip, Jan. 21"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The application deadline for University Ministry&#8217;s Service Immersion Trip during spring break, <strong>March 7-13<\/strong>, to the Appalachian Mountains in Washburn, Tenn., will close on <strong>Jan. 21.<\/strong>\u00a0Students of all faiths or none are welcome to apply.<\/p>\n<p>Service immersion trips are an opportunity to encounter a community outside of your own, offer your gifts and friendship in service, simplicity and solidarity, and immerse yourself in education on the critical issues of our day, in this case, sustainability in Appalachia.<\/p>\n<p>We will stay with <a href=\"https:\/\/narrowridge.org\/\">Narrow Ridge Earth Literacy Center<\/a>, an organization dedicated to serving the local community, teaching sustainable practices and offering retreat space to cultivate an ethic and spirituality around the natural world.
