The international travel experience included in the course provided students with the opportunity to meet with representatives of local businesses and other institutions in a host country and gain additional perspectives on global business and culture.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout this course and travel, alumni served as mentors. The key characteristics of effective mentors include giving relevant examples from experience, being candid in dealings and advice, understanding how mentees learn\/work and challenging mentee with actionable advice.<\/p>\n<p>The key activities experienced during the trip included exploring:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tijuca Rain Forest, the world\u2019s largest urban rainforest<\/li>\n<li>Corcovado, home to the Christ the Redeemer statue<\/li>\n<li>Pequena Africa, or \u2018Little Africa\u2019<\/li>\n<li>Museum of Tomorrow<\/li>\n<li>The history and economic impact of Carnival and the Olympics.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-24418 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/sites.udmercy.edu\/campusconnection\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/106\/2026\/01\/Rio-collage.jpg?resize=993%2C251&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"A collage of three photos of a large group of people in each.
