Only the top 5% of all student member groups achieve the \u201cOutstanding\u201d ranking nationally! This also marks the\u00a015<sup>th<\/sup> straight year\u00a0the Chemistry Club has earned this prestigious designation.<\/p>\n<p>Written comments on the substantial annual report submitted by officers last May commended the Club&#8217;s fundraising and outreach activities, which support Detroit Mercy\u2019s Jesuit and Mercy values and mission, as well as its varied social events and adherence to the Society&#8217;s strategic plan under diversity, inclusion, equity and respect (&#8220;Women in Science Symposium&#8221;).<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Detroit Mercy\u2019s ACS Student Chapter received a Green Chemistry Award for activities conducted during the 2018-2019 academic year. The University\u2019s ACS Student Chapter was recognized for engaging in three or more green chemistry activities. Award-winning chapters will also be honored at the ACS National Meeting in Philadelphia, Penn., on March 22, 2020. According to the ACS, \u201cProfessors Matthew Mio and Mara Livezey, co-faculty advisors of the chapter, deserve special commendation. Few faculty members are willing to make the great commitment of time and energy that a successful chapter requires.
