The weather was perfect for Detroit Mercy Homecoming 2018 on Sept. 28-29. More than 1,500 alumni, friends and community neighbors were on hand to enjoy festivities like the annual tug-of-war, law school golf outing<\/a>, 50th<\/sup>\u00a0reunion dinner for the class of 1968, Decades Dash run (click here for race results<\/a>), a classic car show, DIA display on how artists work, soccer, lacrosse and tennis matches, and an ROTC reunion. Click here for Friday photos<\/a> as well as\u00a0Part 1<\/a> and Part 2<\/a> of our photo galleries for Saturday.<\/p>\n The\u00a0Varsity News<\/em>\u00a0also celebrated its 100th<\/sup>\u00a0birthday with a reunion during Homecoming Sept. 29. More than 100 former student journalists, editors, photographers and staffers who served on the paper during their years at Detroit Mercy celebrated the paper\u2019s birthday. Honorary co-chairs for the reunion were Ron Fournier and Luther “Badman” Keith.\u00a0This special event took place in the Student Union Ball Room. Click here for the photo gallery<\/a>.<\/p>\n This year, Detroit Mercy welcomed Buddy\u2019s Pizza, Bucharest Grill and Sanders to campus. In addition, attendees enjoyed craft beers from the alumni-owned North Center Brewing of Northville as well as wine from Tabone Vineyards of Traverse City, also alumni owned.<\/p>\n According to Peggy Pattison, director of Alumni Relations, the more than 1,500 people who attended Homecoming this year represents an increase of 15 percent from 2017.
