For the third consecutive year, the Detroit Mercy Cybersecurity Club hosted its popular cybersecurity-themed escape room experience. This year’s escape room challenged students from all disciplines to solve a fictional homicide case involving “Professor Chen.” Students worked in teams as forensic analysts to perform a variety of forensics-themed tasks to solve the case: decoding hexadecimal, solving riddles, investigating suspicious accounts, all leading to the identification of the murderer. This interactive experience, which was open to all students at the university, introduced participants to cybersecurity and forensics concepts in an easy-to-follow, hands-on format that required very little prior knowledge.

The Escape Room continues to be one of our most well-attended events every year, frequently drawing in students from across the university who may not often engage with cybersecurity topics. We are incredibly proud to offer events like this that make cybersecurity accessible and fun for everyone!
