Winter is coming, and The University has developed a snow and ice removal plan for all three campuses. The goal of UDM’s Snow and Ice Removal Plan is to effectively maintain safe roads, walkways, and parking for commuting on all UDM campuses. This plan can also inform those traveling on campus, what to expect during winter weather events. You can find the full plan on the Environmental Health and Safety website.
What you can do to help!
- Wearing appropriate outerwear is a first step in making sure we prevent as many injuries related to weather. When traveling outside, wear shoes that are equipped to handle slick pavements.
- Move cautiously in extreme weather conditions, including starting your commute early so that you can take your time getting to your destination.
- Do not dart out in front or behind snow removal machines while in operation! Our staff is not able to see behind them when using the snow trucks, wait for them to pass.
If you notice any slick spots or areas that need snow removal on campus, please call (313) 993-1240 (7:30am-3:30pm) or Public Safety (313) 993-1234 (3:30pm-7:30am). The Facility Operations team does our best to remove snow and ice in a timely fashion, we appreciate your patience.
