We need to be placing emphasis on making sure that everyone is caring for one another, caring for themselves, and feels a culture of well-being within University of Detroit Mercy. There is no consensus around a single definition of well-being, but there is general agreement that at minimum, well-being includes the presence of positive emotions and moods (e.g., contentment, happiness), the absence of negative emotions (e.g., depression, anxiety), satisfaction with life, fulfillment and positive functioning. Self-care is any deliberate activity that we do to provide for our physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.
