He also moderated conversations with two authors of recent Underground Railroad novels: Cynthia Mullen of Hinges and Kai Thomas of In The Upper Country.
In September, he presented “Living in the Jim Crow South” at the Livonia Public Library, in conjunction with the One City, One Book program. He also gave a talk on “The Improvisational Nature of the Underground Railroad” at the sixth annual Michigan Underground Railroad Heritage Gathering at the Michigan History Center in Lansing, Michigan.
