Counseling Program receives $862,000 to expand behavioral health workforce

Nancy Calleja, professor and chair, Department of Counseling and Addiction Studies, is the principal investigator and project director of an $862,000 grant from the Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA) awarded in September. The project is designed to expand the behavioral health workforce, providing enhanced specialized training to master’s level Counseling students and community-based clinical supervisors with an emphasis on addressing the complex needs of the most vulnerable adolescents and young adults in the region. 

This latest HRSA funding award follows two previously successful grants that was awarded to Calleja by the Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA) that now total $2,500,000.
