Lawyers from El Savador discuss their work for human rights

Discover the inspiring work of Socorro Jurídico Humanitario (SJH), a legal aid NGO from El Salvador, in an engaging talk with guest speakers Ingryd Escobar and Oscar Rosales. Formed in response to El Salvador’s 2022 suspension of civil rights, SJH offers free legal and humanitarian aid to individuals impacted by the state of emergency, providing critical support to over 75,000 people currently imprisoned without charges. Escobar and Rosales will share how SJH’s mission resonates with Detroit Mercy’s commitment to justice and human rights, as they advocate for those in need and push for international action.

The College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (CHASS) invites you to join this important discussion and gain insight into the global fight for human rights, directly reflecting Detroit Mercy’s mission to foster community and serve the marginalized.
