Join the Detroit Mercy African American Studies Program for an inspiring event that celebrates love, resilience, and the power of community in the face of adversity.

Professor Roy E. Finkenbine will share the story of Adam and Sarah Crosswhite, who escaped enslavement and found refuge in Michigan, only to face the threat of recapture before the community rallied to their defense.

After the talk, enjoy a performance by the University Chorus, featuring songs from the African American experience.

Lunch will be provided.
