The College of Humanities, Arts & Social Sciences (CHASS) celebrated its first graduating class under the new CHASS name during commencement weekend. Officially adopting the name in 2024, CHASS carries forward the College’s liberal arts legacy while meeting twenty-first century demands to deliver a transformative student learning experience.
Commencement took place on Saturday, May 10. CHASS graduate and undergraduate students received a pen to commemorate this landmark moment. Among the graduates was Cristal Guzmán, a Political Science and Pre-Law Honors student, who was named the University’s 2025 Valedictorian and delivered the morning ceremony’s address. “It took the amazing people in my corner to remind me that I, too, deserve to reach for something as prestigious as this,” she said.
With this milestone, CHASS wraps up the semester and continues to move forward, marking the start of a new era for the college and its graduates
