CHASS faculty gathered in August for a professional development workshop on “Navigating AI in the Liberal Arts” ahead of the annual College meeting. The session, held in the Architecture Exhibition Space, brought faculty and staff together to explore the opportunities and challenges presented by artificial intelligence in higher education.
Profs. Anne Kohnke and Greg Laidlaw of the Department of Cybersecurity and Information Systems provided an accessible introduction to AI concepts, laying the groundwork for discussion. They then joined Erin Bell, Greg Grobis, and Dean Jocelyn Boryczka in facilitating small group conversations.
Participants reflected on Teaching with AI, the College’s summer book discussion text, and shared insights on how liberal arts faculty can lead in shaping AI’s role in education. The workshop concluded with the development of best practices and lessons learned to guide future teaching, research, and student engagement.
