CHASS Welcomes Prospective Students at December 6 Open House

The College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (CHASS) welcomed prospective students and their families to campus on December 6th for the University’s Open House. The event offered visitors an engaging look into the academic experience, student resources, and hands-on opportunities available across UDM and within the College.

CHASS participated in several activities throughout the day, including:

● Resource Fair: Faculty and staff connected with future Titans, answered questions, and showcased the wide range of programs CHASS offers.

● Academic Information Session: CHASS Student Ambassadors hosted a panel discussion, taking questions from students after Dean Boryczka welcomed them to the College. Dr. Elena Garcia, Associate Professor of English delivered an engaging classroom teaching sample that captivated students. The session provided an overview of CHASS disciplines, curriculum strengths, and the supportive learning environment students can expect.

● Academic Lab Tours: Guests explored CHASS labs and learning spaces, gaining firsthand insight into the hands-on experiences that enrich a Detroit Mercy education.

The event highlighted the meaningful work happening across CHASS and the welcoming community future students can look forward to joining.
