CHASS College Meeting and Professional Development Workshop – January 17, 2025

The College of Humanities, Arts & Social Sciences (CHASS) will host its mid-year meeting on Friday, January 17, 2025, from 2 – 3:30 p.m. in CHP 124.  We will hear about exciting updates on critical renovation projects, learn about strategic planning and other initiatives, and get well-positioned to accompany our students and one another through the Winter 2025 semester.

The Faculty Development Committee will host a professional development workshop, ““Empower Your Classroom:  Powerful and Pertinent Conversations” from 11:30 a.m – 1:00 p.m. in CHP 124 before the College meeting.  This workshop emerged from faculty interest in discussing critical conversations in and outside the classroom.  Faculty and staff are invited to share insights, strategies, and best practices for confidently and effectively addressing sensitive topics and mental health issues in the classroom.

The workshop will be facilitated by Profs. Tahani Dari (Counseling and Addiction Studies) and Lee Eshelman (Psychology) who will be joined by panelists, including Profs. Sharde’ Chapman (Religious Studies). David Koukal (Philosophy), Katie Merriman (Religious Studies), and Joseph Weglarz (Economics). Lunch will be provided to all who attend the workshop from 1 – 2 p.m.
