CHASS held our closing College meeting for the 2024-2025 academic year on May 1, 2025. Accomplishments such as implementing appreciative advising, the Discover Detroit Series, Student Ambassador program, and the Black Box Theatre were shared as the College looks to its exciting future as outlined in the CHASS Strategic Plan that will roll out in Fall 2025.
A highlight of the meeting was recognized contributions of certain faculty and staff whose dedication and service continue to strengthen the CHASS community.
The Faculty Service Recognition Award was given to Prof. Genevieve Meyers, Chair of the Political Science Department, and valued member of College. This award emerges from nominations reviewed by the Faculty Development Committee and Dean. This year’s award focused on community engagement. Known for her thoughtful leadership, student mentorship, and sustained community engagement, Dr. Meyers was recognized for her meaningful impact in and outside the classroom. Her service exemplifies the spirit of collaboration and care for the community that defines CHASS.
In addition, the College recognized Angela Davis, Operations Manager, and Alan Devlin, Theatre Technical Director, for their outstanding commitment and day-to-day contributions. From solving problems behind the scenes to supporting students and faculty alike, Angela Davis and Alan Devlin were celebrated by their colleagues with warm applause and appreciation.
As we look ahead, this end-of-year celebration reminded us that CHASS thrives because of the people who bring it to life—through teaching, service, research, and everyday dedication. Congratulations to all honorees, and thank you to the entire CHASS community for another remarkable year.
