The University of Detroit Mercy will celebrate commencement on Saturday, May 10, 2025, marking a significant milestone for the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (CHASS). We will mark the graduation of our first CHASS class since the college officially changed its name from the College of Liberal Arts & Education (CLAE) in August 2024.
The name change, announced at the start of the 2024-2025 academic year, better reflects our three areas of disciplinary focus in the humanities, arts, and social sciences while retaining our deep commitment to our legacy as delivering the liberal arts curriculum at Detroit Mercy.
Students graduating from our graduate and undergraduate programs will now carry the CHASS name forward as the college enters a new era. We will recognize this milestone with special gifts for our graduating students and faculty who attend graduation. We hope that all will join for this penultimate event for our College and University.
