‘Crimes of Solidarity:’ What’s at stake for our social connectedness

Explore the ethical and social implications of “Crimes of Solidarity” in a thought-provoking webinar led by philosopher Sally Scholz, Ph.D., from Villanova University. Dr. Scholz will be joined by Deb Hansen and Kim Redigan, who will share real-life examples from humanitarian work at the U.S.-Mexico border and in Palestine. Together, they will examine recent efforts to criminalize humanitarian actions and discuss the risks and responsibilities involved in supporting vulnerable communities. This discussion invites us to reflect on the importance of social connectedness and solidarity, values deeply aligned with Detroit Mercy’s mission.

Part of the Mercy Peace Forum series, this event is co-sponsored by the Carney Latin American Solidarity Archive (CLASA), the Peace History Society, and the Philosophy Department, offering a unique perspective on the challenges facing global peace and justice efforts today.
