Economics Program offers graduate assistantships

The Department of Economics will be offering graduate assistant (GA) positions for the winter 2024 semester. Assistantships offer students the opportunity to apply skills and knowledge while receiving financial support. GAs serve as a support-person to a faculty’s teaching assignments and/or help faculty with their research. The GAs will not perform the teaching duties for faculty. Applications must be received by Sunday, Dec. 17 from interested graduate students in the College of Liberal Ats & Education master’s programs for economics, financial economics or applied data analytics.

Students must meet the following criteria to be considered for assistantship positions. Due to the limited availability of the funds, the granting of assistantships is a competitive process. Meeting these criteria do not guarantee awards. To qualify, interested students must:

  1. Be enrolled in Detroit Mercy’s graduate programs for Master of Arts in Economics, Master of Arts in Financial Economics or Master of Science in Applied Data Analytics in the Department of Economics.
  2. Have a minimum of 3.5 GPA in the graduate program.
  3. Have full-time student status in the awarding semester.
