Rx for Reading Day of Giving Blitz

Monday, December 2 | Online Campaign | Matching Gift Up to $750

The College of Humanities, Arts & Social Sciences will lead a focused Day of Giving effort on Monday, December 2 in support of Rx for Reading Detroit, the campus-based nonprofit literacy initiative that provides free books and reading resources to children across the city. This year’s campaign includes a special matching opportunity: all gifts made on December 2 will be matched dollar-for-dollar, up to $750, allowing donors to double the impact of their support.

Rx for Reading partners with schools, clinics, shelters, and community organizations to place thousands of books directly into the hands of Detroit children each year. Contributions made during the Day of Giving help sustain book distributions, fund new reading initiatives, and expand access to literacy resources for families throughout the community.

CHASS will conduct a dedicated social media blitz throughout the day to highlight the program’s mission, impact, and ongoing need for support. While the university’s central channels will feature general Day of Giving messaging, CHASS platforms will specifically spotlight Rx for Reading stories, student involvement, and the importance of supporting literacy and educational equity in Detroit.

Supporters can participate by making a gift through the official campaign page, which will go live at midnight on December 2:
