Now through December 5 | Donation bins located outside Reno 250
The College of Humanities, Arts & Social Sciences is partnering with local community organizations this holiday season to support Detroit families in need. From now through Thursday, December 5, CHASS is collecting new men’s socks and children’s socks to benefit the Detroit Rescue Mission and The Children’s Center. These essential items are among the most requested during the winter months and make a meaningful impact for individuals and families facing hardship.
In addition, the college is participating in the Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots program, gathering new, unwrapped toys to help ensure that children across Detroit experience the joy of the holiday season. All donated items will be distributed through long-standing community partners who directly serve families in need throughout the region.
Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to contribute by dropping donations in the clearly marked bins located in the hallway outside Reno Hall, Room 250. Even small contributions — a pair of socks, a children’s toy, or both — help extend Detroit Mercy’s mission of compassion, dignity, and service during a time when support matters most.
CHASS invites the entire campus community to come together in generosity and help make this holiday season brighter for Detroit families.
