A new Health Humanities minor is being developed in the College.<\/span><\/p>\n

Rosemary Weatherston, Associate Professor of English, is leading the effort to bring to campus this minor that explores the ethical, historical, literary, philosophical, and religious dimensions of medicine or health.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Leveraging the interdisciplinarity of the liberal arts, this program would offer instruction at the crossroads of art, cultural studies, economics, ethics, history, literature, medical anthropology, philosophy, religion, and spiritual thought, science, and technology, visual art, and writing.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This minor would provide the opportunity to connect medicine\/health professions at UDM even more closely to a humanistic approach. Students in the minor learn critical skills in narrative and storytelling that benefit their well-being along with their potential patients while developing their ability to communicate in ways that can transform their lives. The minor will align student and institutional interests in the health professions by taking inter- and transdisciplinary approaches to learning that cross UDM\u2019s Colleges and Schools while keeping liberal arts and the humanities at its core. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
